Elderly Care in Summerlin NV

Elderly Care in Summerlin NVIt’s one thing to think about getting more exercise and quite another to figure out what types of exercise to do. Start with some simple ideas and then you can work your way up to more complicated exercise.

Walk Around the Neighborhood

One of the easiest ways to get some good exercise is to simply walk around your neighborhood. You might want to start with smaller walks if you’re not used to doing a lot of walking. You can also walk just a few houses up the street and then turn around and come back. Gradually make your walk longer and longer until you’re walking the distance and the speed that you want to walk.

Start Random Dance Parties

During hot weather it’s difficult to get into the idea of spending time outside, even in the cooler morning or evening. That’s why exercises that you can do at home are so much more fun. Try starting random dance parties at home throughout the day. Turn on some music that you really like and really give it your all for at least an entire song. Work your way up to three or four songs in a row. Encourage your elderly loved one to join in, too.

Try Out Different Exercise Videos

Exercise videos are a great way to try exercises that you might not have ever thought of doing. You don’t have to go out and invest a ton of money in building up a collection, though. Ask around to your friends and family members to see if they have any that you might borrow. Libraries also usually have a selection of exercise videos from which to choose. An even easier option is to try out some of the streaming services that have all different types of exercises available.

Take Classes

If you’re looking for a way to get out of the house now and again, which is also good for you, consider taking classes at your local community center, gym, or community college. They often have a decent selection of options and this is a wonderful way for you to meet new people. Set up a time that another family member or even elderly care providers can stay with your loved one so your mind will be at ease.

Once you start moving more, you’ll find more ways to keep the exercise going. Branch out and try new things.
