How Much Does In-Home Care Cost in Las Vegas?

Nevada runs slightly above the national median for non-medical home care. Here is what the most recent survey reported, what actually drives your number, and how to build an estimate you can plan around.
Paying for In-Home Care in Las Vegas

In-home care in Las Vegas is generally billed by the hour, and Nevada runs slightly above the national median. The CareScout Cost of Care Survey conducted from July through November 2025 reported a Nevada median of $37 per hour for a non-medical caregiver, compared with a national median of $35. That figure is a statewide planning benchmark, not a quote from any agency, and what a family actually pays depends on hours, the type of help needed, and how the schedule is built. Most families in the valley are not buying full-time care. They are buying a specific number of hours aimed at the specific parts of the week that have become unmanageable.

The Nevada Numbers

The table below is drawn from the same survey. Every figure is a statewide median for planning purposes.

Nevada, non-medical caregiver at home Median Basis
Hourly $37 As reported hourly
Monthly $7,055 44 hours per week
Annual $84,656 44 hours per week, 52 weeks
Daily $232 Annual rate divided by 365

Notice that the monthly and annual figures assume 44 hours a week. That is the industry convention the survey uses, not a prediction about your family. Most Las Vegas families we talk with start somewhere between eight and twenty hours a week.

Six Things That Move Your Number

  • How many hours. This matters more than everything else combined. Twelve hours a week and sixty hours a week are different financial decisions, not different points on the same decision.
  • What kind of help. Companionship, meal preparation, and light assistance sit at the lower end of any agency’s range. Hands-on personal care services, dementia support, and two-person transfers sit higher.
  • The shape of the schedule. Longer predictable shifts are usually more efficient per hour than several short scattered visits. Overnights, weekends, and holidays are often priced differently.
  • Visit minimums. Every agency in Clark County sets its own minimum visit length and minimum weekly hours. Do not assume they match. A two-hour minimum and a four-hour minimum produce very different monthly totals for the same actual need.
  • What is built into the rate. A licensed, bonded, and insured agency carries caregiver background checks, state-approved training, workers compensation, liability insurance, drug testing, and payroll taxes. Those protections are part of the rate. They are also the reason an agency rate is higher than what an individual caregiver might quote.
  • Caregiver availability. A schedule that is hard to staff in a hard-to-staff week is priced differently than a straightforward weekday morning.

A Planning Formula You Can Use Right Now

This is a planning tool, not a quote.

Estimated hours per week × estimated hourly rate × 4.33 weeks = estimated monthly cost.

At the Nevada benchmark of $37 per hour, 12 hours a week works out to roughly $1,922 a month and 20 hours a week to roughly $3,204 a month. These are budgeting illustrations only. Your actual cost depends on your needs, hours, schedule, location, agency policy, and caregiver availability, and any agency you are considering should give you a personalized estimate.

How Does That Compare to Assisted Living in Nevada?

More honestly than most home care companies will tell you: it depends on the hours, and at high hour counts home care can cost more.

The same 2025 survey reported a Nevada median of $6,241 a month for a private one-bedroom in an assisted living community, and $11,786 a month for a semi-private room in a nursing home. At twelve or twenty hours a week, in-home care in Las Vegas costs meaningfully less than assisted living and the person stays in their own home. At forty-four hours a week the Nevada median for home care was $7,055, which is above the assisted living median. If someone needs supervision around the clock, assisted living is often the more affordable option, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

Cost is also not usually the deciding factor. Home care fits when someone is generally safe at home, wants to stay, and needs help with specific tasks or specific parts of the day. Assisted living fits better when supervision is needed most of the day and night. Skilled nursing is the answer when medical needs require continuous nursing care that cannot be managed safely at home.

What About Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and Insurance?

Briefly, because each of these deserves more room than a paragraph:

  • Medicare may cover certain skilled home health services for a person who qualifies. It generally does not pay for ongoing non-medical help with daily activities when that is the only need.
  • Nevada Medicaid operates programs that may help some people who qualify, including a Personal Care Services program. Golden Heart Senior Care of Las Vegas is privately funded and does not accept Medicaid. If that is your route, Nevada Medicaid can be reached at 1-800-525-2395 and the Aging and Disability Services Division Clark County office at 702-486-3545.
  • Veterans benefits may help eligible wartime veterans and surviving spouses. We accept VA.
  • Long-term care insurance may help depending on the policy, its benefit trigger, and its elimination period. We accept long-term care insurance.
  • Community vouchers through Clark County and state-funded programs may help some families. We accept community vouchers, and program availability, eligibility, and benefit limits apply.

Eligibility for any program is determined by that program, not by a home care agency, and families should confirm coverage directly with the program, insurer, or benefits representative.

The Practical Move Most Families Wish They Had Made Sooner

Start with the hardest hours instead of all the hours. Mornings, bath days, or the late afternoon when confusion sets in. A caregiver aimed at the genuine pressure points goes further than coverage spread thin across a whole week, and it gives you real information about where the need actually is. After a few weeks, you will know whether to add hours, move them, or leave them alone.

Almost nobody tells us they wish they had started with more hours. Plenty of families tell us they wish they had started sooner.
